We know that we can’t help every patient, with every medication, at every pharmacy, but we do our best (and we keep the ScriptSave WellRx program FREE for any patients who wish to try). We usually suggest that members show our savings card to their pharmacist and say something along the lines of, “Please process my prescription using the Group details on this card.”

It’s most certainly not a scam, Prescription Hunter. We’ve been providing cash savings to under-insured patients via our free savings cards for 25 years, and we have around 65,000 US-based retail pharmacies contracted to accept these cards. Needless to say, with everything that pharmacists have to deal with every day, not every single member of staff at every one of the 65K locations will be immediately be aware of our card. However, we do provide a tollfree call center for any member who has problems – and our US-based support staff are happy to call a pharmacy on behalf of a member if necessary.

We’re sorry you feel that way, BD, but we can assure you that it’s no scam. The 2 most common reasons for members experiencing different prices on the ScriptSave WellRx website vs. at the pharmacy are as follows:

1. the online price-check is performed at the time of getting the prescription from the doctor, but the patient doesn’t actually fill/collect/pay for the prescription at the pharmacy until a few days later. Rx prices fluctuate far more frequently than most patients realize.

2. the online price-check tool on the ScriptSave WellRx website defaults to the most commonly filled strength, quantity, brand/generic and form of each medication. As such, if your own specific prescription was for more pills or a higher dosage, or a different brand, etc. you MUST manually update the parameters of the price-check tool before you’ll get an accurate quote.
