Ibotta is one of the most popular apps out there when it comes to saving money on groceries. However, you don’t have to stop there. Now there’s plenty of other apps like Ibotta out there that pay you to scan grocery receipts.

ReceiptPal is different from the other apps in that they pay you for your receipt rather than where you make the purchase or what you buy. This means that you can get paid for absolutely anything you buy, not just groceries like on the apps we’ve mentioned thus far.
The one downside to ReceiptPal is that the payout isn’t very high. You’re going to need to scan a lot of receipts before you’re able to make a lot of money. However, at just 350 points (4 receipts), you can still cash out for a $1 gift card.
If you’re willing to save, the more points you have the more valuable they become. There’s currently a limit to only being able to submit up to 20 receipts per week. Any receipt over 20 counts as an entry to their sweepstakes drawing.

2. Fetch Rewards

Fetch Rewards is a fairly new player in the receipt scanning app category, but they’re already proving their worth. Receive anywhere between $.25 to $2 per offer on your receipt.
You can pass this $2 threshold by having more than one offer per receipt. Although the offers are somewhat quite limited right now since they’re fairly new, they’re quickly expanding. Furthermore, the payout is high compared to other apps on this list.

3. Checkout 51

Next to Ibotta, Checkout 51 is one of the most popular receipt scanning apps specifically for groceries. One huge difference is that with Checkout 51, it doesn’t matter where you make the purchase. As long as your receipt lists the item for the offer that you’re claiming, you’re bound to get cash back.
The offers with Checkout 51 aren’t as abundant as Ibotta, but you can still save a few dollars on specific items. They usually have groceries such as snacks, cleaning supplies and sometimes even fruits and vegetables.
New offers are available after every Thursday morning. If you claim an offer one week, be sure to check back the following week to find it again. This can be great for frequently purchased items. You need a minimum of $10 to cash out.

4. BerryCart

If you’re a healthy shopper or like to buy organic, non-GMO or other specialty groceries, BerryCart is the app for you. Their products trend more toward health-related products, something none of the other apps tend to have.
They even have a filtering system that lets you search for a specific health category such as dairy free, vegan or soy. BerryCart also has you covered with their built-in GPS system that tells you the available offers at stores near you.
Most of the items they have available tend to be a bit higher than other apps, ranging from $1 – $3. This is a great way to stick to a healthy diet and still get rewarded for it. Refer a friend and you both get a $2 bonus when they sign-up using your link and scan their first receipt.

5. SavingStar

Although SavingStar doesn’t come with a registration bonus, it’s not one receipt scanning app that you want to disregard.
SavingStar was originally created to help you quickly earn discounts to your loyalty cards. When you log-in to your SavingStar account, you can electronically “clip” coupons. Link your loyalty cards to your account, and when you scan them at the store, the discount is automatically deducted from your receipt.
No printing and no paper. That’s what makes SavingStar so great. Now you can earn cash back for scanning receipts for specific products.
The great thing about this app is that while they don’t have as many offers as Ibotta, the payout is quite high compared to many apps on this list. It’s not uncommon to earn up to $2 per offer on your receipt.
6. MobiSave

MobiSave is much newer to the table than Ibotta or Checkout51, but they still have some great deals. Expect to save anywhere from $.25 cents to $3 per each item that you get cash back on.
There aren’t as many offers as with other apps, but you can still find some common products such as pop tarts, coffee, jelly, eggs, windex and more. You can even browse their offers when you’re offline. If there are any new offers, they’ll appear once you have connection again.
The best part? You don’t need a minimum amount to cash out, and payments are automatically sent to your PayPal account once every 24 hours. Not only that, but you also get a $1 bonus for each friend you refer when they scan their first receipt.
7. Shopkick

Shopkick was originally created to reward you for walking in stores and scanning barcodes at products in-store. They still have these options, but now you can earn cash from scanning your receipt for specific products that you purchase.
What makes Shopkick is its versatility, as there’s plenty of ways to earn. Furthermore, they recently added a new feature that allows you to link your credit card and earn points just for shopping at specific retailers.
You earn points with Shopkick called “kicks” that can be exchanged for gift cards or cool cash prizes. You need a minimum of $5 in kicks, and you get a 250 kick ($.25 cents) bonus when you register.
Shopkick has gone a long way, and they’re always expanding. This is definitely one receipt scanning app you want to have on your list.
8. Receipt Hog

This is another app like ReceiptPal that pays you not for any specific offer, just as long as you have the receipt. The one major difference, however, is that their offers are typically limited to grocery stores, convenience stores and gas stations.
Each time you scan a receipt you earn a certain amount of points that are used to play in their “Hog Slots” game. Play the game and randomly receive a certain amount coins that can be used for payouts. Receipt Hog will occasionally send you surveys and other offers for extra coins.

9. Shopmium

Instead of looking for cheaper deals in your area, the Walmart Savings Catcher App does this for you. Take a picture of your receipt, and Walmart automatically checks all the items listed to see if there’s a cheaper option in your area.
If Walmart finds an item that’s cheaper than what you paid for it at their store, they’ll refund you the difference. Keep in mind that their payouts are only in the form of Walmart Gift Cards. There’s no limit to the amount of receipts you can check.

PunchCard is a more recent receipt scanning app that pays you to shop at all of the frequent retailers. The best part? It doesn’t matter what you buy, just as long as you shop at specific stores.
Furthermore, not only do they have plenty of popular retailers, but they also have a lot of unexpected Mom & Pop stores you can earn cash back at.
While the amount you earn per receipt isn’t that great, you’d be surprised at what stores they actually have on their app. For that reason it’s worth giving it a try.

In general, you should try and take a picture of the entire receipt in order to avoid missing some important information. Most apps need to see the store name and address, date of purchase, itemized list of bought products and total purchase price.

Can These Apps Be Used Together?
Yes. If you scan a receipt to Checkout51, you can use the same receipt and scan it to MobiSave to earn even more in cash back. The one thing you can’t do is scan the same receipt twice on the same app.
Do These Apps Have Referral Bonuses?
