We go in depth on how to earn money watching videos from your phone with this App Trailers review.
If you have some spare time to kill in a line at a doctor’s office or are just sitting around doing nothing at your desk for work, this app might be perfect for you.
While rewards aren’t incredibly high for watching a few videos here and there, it can greatly supplement your income if you continuously do it over time.
Now let’s get onto the full App Trailers review.
Table of Contents
What is App Trailers?
App Trailers is exactly what it sounds like. You watch video trailers of apps and are rewarded points for each one watched. These points can then be converted into cash or gift card prizes.
App Trailers makes their money by showing an ad display before each video, as companies are willing to pay money to get their name out there.
App Trailers has been around for quite a few years, but has made some major changes recently, drastically cutting down your earnings potential.
How Much Can I Make With App Trailers?
The one downside about App Trailers is that we can’t let videos run on-end without doing some sort of “work.” In this case, that includes the press of a button after each video. This is totally unlike its counterpart Perk TV, where you can let the videos run on for hours without doing anything, essentially granting you a nice, passive income with minimal work.
Each video that you watch will give you 5 points regardless of length. Since all videos give us the same amount of points, why would we choose to watch a longer video over a shorter one? Afterall, our goal should be to make the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time.
The shortest trailers that find on App Trailers are under the “web apps” section. After watching hundreds and hundreds of videos, there’s usually an ad for about 25 seconds and a trailer for another 25 seconds, meaning you will earn 5 points every 50 seconds. Take note that 10 points is equal to one cent.
If you were quick enough and able to click the next video button almost immediately, earning 5 points every 50 seconds is equivalent to making 360 points per hour (36 cents).
Once you have reached 500 points, you are eligible to cash out your funds directly to PayPal. Any points above 500 will be given to you as well. If we wanted to run the app for 24/7, we could make a little over $8.00 a day.
Is it Worth it?
This is a question you have to decide yourself. Making $8.00 for an entire day doesn’t sound like much. However, if you were to only use this app when you were at the office and in your spare time, you could make an extra $30 – $40 a month, depending on the amount of use. This is being on the optimistic side.
The only problem is that you can’t run this app for 24 hours straight without receiving some sort of penalty. After running the app for a certain period of time, App Trailers may temporarily bring down the amount of points you make from 5 to 3 after watching each video. That means you would only be receiving 3/5 of $8.00, giving you an even lower payout.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the point reduction. This will only happen if you watch videos for hours and hours at a time. Eventually it will go back up to 5 points even if this does happen. If you do get to this point, I cannot say that it is worth it, and would wait a day until your payout is reset to 5 points per video.
For me personally, this app has netted me an extra $30 a month on average just sitting at a cubicle. I have lots of dead time in my office. As long as I can remember to keep clicking away, I’m making a few extra bucks per day. In the short-run it may not seem like much, but it definitely helps me pay off a few meals without taking anything out of my time.
Are There Any Other Ways to Earn With App Trailers?
Aside from watching videos, you could sign-up for the App Trailers offers available under their “Promos” section. Offers can range anywhere from 5 – 2500 points at this current time. However, a lot of the higher-end ones require you to sign-up for their offer, often putting cash down before points are received.
That being said, I tend to stay away from these offers as they take a long time to complete and I don’t want to go through the extra hassle, as well as receive some spam in my inbox.
The only recommendation I make as to receive some extra cash through App Trailers is using their referral program. If you use my referral code ‘famishedbowl3’ and sign-up here you’ll receive 50 points for free.
Final Thoughts
If I had to base App Trailers solely on the amount of money you could make, there’s not really a good counter-argument against that it’s not worth it. The payout potential is so low for anyone to even consider doing this full-time.
The best time to use App Trailers is when you have some spare time such as waiting in line or have nothing to do in a cubicle at work. Sometimes what I do is play videos while I’m driving (since I have unlimited data).
I just make sure to have my thumb over the next video button and press every so often. This way I’m still keeping an eye on the road while making some cash.
