With many other mystery shopping apps or websites, you have to jump through hoops or go through extensive interviews to apply to mystery shop with different companies.

Field Agent is one of the most popular mystery shopping apps on the market, and some may say the easiest to use as well.

Let’s take a look at how easy it is to get started using this app so you can start to earn cash today.

How To Get Started

To get started on Field Agent, you are going to obviously need a smartphone, a bank account to deposit your money into, and reliable transportation as you will need to travel to each one of your shops.

While you do not need your own personal vehicle, having one can expand your options when it comes to accepting different shops.

After downloading the app for the first time, you will need to complete your profile so that Field Agent can start to gather the data needed to present you with your job opportunities.

Once your profile is complete, you are going to need to link a direct deposit capable bank account so that you can have your earnings dropped directly into your bank account.

This process is the lengthiest part of the setup process as you will have to wait for Field Agent to send test deposits to your account in order to verify that your direct deposit is working.

While you are waiting for this verification, you can go ahead and get started on your first assignment.

It is highly recommended that you complete the training jobs and ticket jobs before setting out and claiming your first real mystery shop.

The training jobs will walk you through different types of assignments and give you examples of how to complete shops discreetly in order to complete the jobs successfully without drawing attention to yourself.

Remember, the point of mystery shopping is to shop without anyone knowing so that you get the experience that normal people get, not corrected service since they know they are being graded.

The ticket jobs are there to provide you with quick surveys to find jobs better suited for you to complete.

Using Field Agent is fairly simple, but here we’ve broken it down into 6 steps on how to get started making money immediately.

1. Download the Field Agent app from the App Store for iOS or the Google Play Store for Androids.

2. Once downloaded, you will be prompted to enter some basic information such as your name and email address. You will need to verify your email after you complete registration.

3. When you log-in you’ll automatically be presented with a list of jobs. Tasks are organized by type so you can choose those which are best suited for you.

4. If you’d like to search for jobs closer to you, simply click on the “map” tab at the top of the screen and you will be presented with a list of tasks in your area. All of the orange landmarks on the map are tasks you can complete with Field Agent. Click on one of them to view more details.

5. Once you find a task that you want to complete, click on the task and hit “Accept This Job” in order to go through with it.

6. When you’re ready to cash out, you can click the “cash out” tab on the left menu and directly deposit your funds to PayPal.

There is no minimum balance that you need to cash out and payments can take as long as 7 business days.

How Much Money Can I Earn With Field Agent?

The amount of potential profit you can earn with this app really depends on your location. Bigger cities, of course, are going to have a wider array of tasks and thus you’ll be able to earn much more.

The amount you can earn on a task varies greatly, but on average you can earn anywhere from $3 – $8 each time a job is completed. Considering that each job usually only needs roughly 10 minutes of actual work, you’re making a minimum of roughly $20 an hour.

Keith Celia from Chicago reports that made $630 since downloading the app. Janelle who is a stay-at-home mom living in the Phoenix area reports that she can earn $100 just by going out for 5 hours a day.

If you’re curious as to whether your region has potential for big bucks through Field Agent, check out the Google Maps section of the app to see how many jobs are in your area. Make sure to accept a job quickly before it gets snatched up. Usually there’s a limit to how many people can complete a certain task.

Another great feature to help you maximize your time is that you can organize jobs according to payout or location, making sure that you’re getting the biggest band for your time. I personally use this as I greatly value my time and only select the highest-paying jobs in close proximity.

There’s no minimum payout rate and you can cash out at any time.

How To Complete A Shop

When selecting a shop, you will want to take into consideration where the shop needs to be completed, how much time is allotted for the shop, and what all you will need to do to complete the shop.

For in-store shops, you will notice that many jobs allow for two hours to complete which is plenty of time if you are selecting a shop that is in your immediate area.

For online/in-store shops such as Walmart’s curbside pickup jobs, you will get about 36 hours to complete the job as you will need to place an order on their mobile app and then pickup the items at the store when your order is ready to be picked up.

Of course, with more and more companies joining this app, there will be various job allotment hours depending on the job types.

After you have found a job that you think is a good suit for you, simply click Accept This Job and Continue to confirm your selection.

Once selected, your timer will start and any addition details of the mystery shop will be available to you including types of photos needed or intricate details of shops that require more information.

What you will want to do first is make sure that you have everything that you need for the shop which could include your phone, money if you need to make a purchase, or someone of a different age if your job specifies this.

Once you have everything ready to go, travel to the location of the shop and review the details of the shop once more before entering the store.

Depending on the type of job, you will have to either enter the store or stay outside to capture the photos or make the purchases that you need.

Follow the instructions exactly how they are written while staying discreet so that you do not tip off any workers.

Once you have completed all of the steps, simply review all of your answers and submit your job.

How Do You Earn Money?

Now that you have completed your job, you may be wondering how you can claim your money and how quickly will it be available.

After you have completed your job, your assignment will go to Field Agent for submission review so that they can ensure that all of the items that had to be completed were completed correctly.

This process can vary depending on the assignment and from personal experience, I can assure you that this process can last any where from a couple of hours, to a couple of days.

Once your job has been approved, the money will be deposited into your Field Agent account and can be reviewed by clicking “Cash Out” on the app.

The money will reside here and continue to build up with each job that you complete until you are ready to cash out.

The best thing about Field Agent is that there is no minimum amount needed to cash out, so you can cash out at any time that you have money available, no matter the amount.

Once you click cash out, you will get a confirmation that you have successfully cashed out and that your money will be available in your bank account within 2-3 days.

This time frame can be affected by holidays and weekends, so if you have not received your money, you may want to check these dates before contacting customer support.

There is no limit to the amount of money that you can earn on this app but any amount over $600 will automatically be reported for taxes.

However, when you cancel jobs before completing them, your shopper score will decrease which could affect the chances of you getting access to more jobs in the future.

Pros And Cons Of Field Agent

Just like with any type of app, there are going to be pros and cons of using Field Agent.

While you can earn unlimited amounts of money with Field Agent, it may seem almost impossible to have any cons while using this app.

While there may not be as many cons as some people may see, there are a few things that I think that they can improve on to make their app better and more enjoyable for all users.

Let’s take a closer look at the pros and cons of Field Agent to give you a better idea of what you can expect from this mystery shopping app.

Pros:

Make Extra Money – Obviously the biggest pro of using the Field Agent app is that you can earn extra money at your own convenience.
Easy To Use – Another reason that many people love this app is that it makes mystery shopping much easier than many of the alternative websites.

Can Get Free Food – Not only can you make some serious money using Field Agent to mystery shop, but you can also get free food by selecting restaurant or fast food shops.

Great For All Ages – No matter how old you are, mystery shopping on field agent can be a great way to make money for all ages.
Work On Your Own Schedule – Just like most money making apps, Field Agent is another app that you can log into when you would like to make your extra money. 

Bonus Opportunities – Sometimes you will have chances to make extra money by completing bonuses that usually revolve around completing multiple jobs. 

Cons:

Cash Out Times Can Be Long – Although the cash out process is very easy with Field Agent, the time that it takes to receive your money can be longer than we had hoped.
Could Be Updated With More Jobs More Often – Depending on the availability of jobs in your area, you may experience more jobs than others and I would like to see more jobs become available. 

Cash Out Options Could Include Gift Cards – While having the option to cash out to a bank account, having a choice to redeem them for gift cards would be a great change of pace. 

Push Notifications Would Be Nice – While the app updates with the swipe of the homepage, getting push notifications of new jobs available in your area would be nice.

My Experience

I have personally been using Field Agent for over 2 years now and have been using it almost daily. 

I have had great success in my local area making around $20-$30 a week, and this is in a smaller town with not as many opportunities as larger cities will have. 

The main jobs I have completed revolve around going to Walmart and taking photos of several different products and answering a few questions which has been super easy. 

As far as food shops go, I have gotten my fair share of free Pizza completing shops for the famous pizza chain Little Ceasers. 

These food shops involved me buying a pizza in stores, taking a photo of the pizza, and giving my feedback on how the pizza looked and tasted. 

This was rewarded with both a flat fee and a reimbursement of the purchase price of the pizza which made for a free meal night for my and my family. 

I have gotten pretty lucky and was able to do a product testing for a company who makes heating pads

This involves me receiving the pad for free, testing it out, and giving my feedback on what I thought of the pad. 

While this was a rare occurrence, it paid off greatly as I still use the heating pad to this day. 

My payments usually clear in 2-3 business days when I click cash out which is decent, but same day deposits would be much better. 

Overall, I enjoy using this app to make extra money that I can use for gas, pay off debts, and for treating myself to a good meal every now and then. 

I would highly suggest this app to anyone who is looking to make extra money and doesn’t mind traveling around town to do it.

As with any app, there are going to be certain tips and tricks that you can learn from using the app on a daily basis. 

With 2 years of experience, I have learned quite a lot of things that I wish I knew starting out so that I could have saved time and made more money quicker. 

Today, we are going to look at a few Field Agent tips and tricks that I have learned from using the app to hopefully make it much easier for you to get started earning some serious money with this smartphone app.

Do The Ticket Jobs For Better Jobs 

In order to get access to more jobs and have more opportunities to do more high paying jobs, I highly suggest doing the ticket jobs. 

Ticket jobs are ways for Field Agent to figure out more about you and offer you jobs that are best suited for your personal information. 

These jobs usually take less than 5 minutes a piece and there are no wrong answers, so you literally have nothing to lose. 

As an added bonus, each ticket job gives you a ticket, or entry, to a monthly drawing for a chance to win a large cash prize.

Keep Your Shopper Score As High As Possible 

When you start to do jobs on Field Agent, you will notice that you have a “Shopper score” that rates how good of a Shopper you are. 

This score is used to determine how many jobs you are shown and what type of jobs you have access to. 

The more reliable you are when completing your jobs, the higher your Shopper score will be. 

To keep your score up, make sure that you are not cancelling any jobs after you have selected them and if you finish a job, ensure that it is correct. 

There is a 5 minute grace period to cancel your job after you have accepted it in case you have changed your mind.

Check The App Often

Due to the app not having a reliable push notification system, you will be forced to check the app often for new jobs that become available. 

Since there is not a set schedule on when new jobs become available, you will need to get into the habit of opening it up a few minutes before you know you will have extra time to try to claim a job before it is taken. 

If a job goes unclaimed, sometimes Field Agent will send a push notification to help to entice and remind shoppers that it is still available.

Take Advantage Of Jobs Near Each Other

To become an efficient Field Agent Shopper, you are going to want to do the most jobs in the least amount of time and with minimal driving. 

One way to do this is to find jobs that are either close to each other or are at the same location

For example, Walmart offers many jobs throughout the month on various products. 

This means that you can often times find multiple jobs at the same Walmart at the same time. 

This allows you to accept and complete these jobs at the same time so you can earn rewards on multiple jobs from one single trip.

Play The Waiting Game   

Last but not least, there is a little known trick that can really pay off if you are the gambling type. 

If you see a job that has been sitting in the job section for awhile and not being claimed, keep an eye on it. 

The longer a job sits in the job section, the more companies are willing to pay for that job to be completed. 

For example, I watched a Little Ceasers shop job go from $6 up to $10 in $1/day increments before I claimed it. 

While this is a gamble as it can be claimed at any time, the juice may be worth the squeeze for further or more involved shops.
