Survey sites really helped me back when I was struggling for cash. In fact, I narrowed it down my favorites that were able to help me bring in roughly $200/month in extra cash.
Survey Junkie is by far one of the highest-paying survey sites, as they often have surveys you can take multiple times per day.
Not only that, but I found that the more surveys you take, the more surveys they give you with higher payouts.

2. Ibotta
Ibotta is a receipt scanning app that pays you to take pictures of your receipts from your phone. Earn cash back on food, groceries, restaurants, electronics, apparel and even certain prescriptions.

Each time you purchase an item that’s offered on the Ibotta app, you receive anywhere from $.25 cents to $5 per offer. Keep in mind that you can scan as many offers as you’re eligible per receipt.
Once you reach a minimum of $10 in your account, you can cash out to a gift card of your choosing. If you want to cash out to PayPal, you need to wait until you reach a minimum balance of $20.
All PayPal payments are made almost immediately, and gift cards are typically sent within 24 hours.
Since Ibotta is the most popular receipt scanning apps and has a wide range of offers, it shouldn’t take long to reach the minimum amount to cash out.
3. Swagbucks
Swagbucks is an online rewards site that pays you to complete tasks that you already do in your free time.
This includes watching videos, taking polls, completing free trial offers, playing games and more.
Right now they’re giving a $5 bonus to all members who earn their first $5.
Most of the money can be made almost passively watching videos, and it’s not uncommon for people to earn an extra $70 per month.
You can cash out for either gift cards or PayPal deposits.
Typically it takes around 3-5 days before you receive your reward.
Earn more with Swagbucks by referring your friends, as you get a 10% bonus of whatever they make.
4. iTalki
Speak a language, any language? Then you automatically qualify to become a tutor on iTalki. No matter what country you’re from or what language you speak, you can earn cash teaching others your native tongue.
You set your own rates and you set your own hours. The amount you should charge depends on the demand for learning and particular language at any given time. It’s not uncommon for English teachers to earn anywhere from $20+ per hour, whereas Chinese speakers may only make closer to $10+ per hour.
When you become a teacher with iTalki, be sure to have a thoroughly laid-out lesson plan and fill out your profile completely. Once you start getting positive reviews, more people are likely to sign-up for your classes as well as come back for more.
5. TopCashback
TopCashback is an online shopping portal that pays you to shop online. This website has partnered with thousands of retailers across the web and has placed their affiliate links onto one page.
Each time you make a purchase using one of these links, they earn a commission. Instead of keeping these earnings to themselves, instead they give it back to you in the form of cash back.
Here’s a quick step-by-step guide on how it works:
- Sign-up for TopCashback for FREE and get a $10 sign-up bonus. You just need your name and email.
- Search for a retailer of your choosing. For example, search for ‘WalMart’ and at the time of this writing you’ll find that they’re giving 5% in cash back on all purchases (with a few exceptions).
- Click on the “Get Cash back” link to be redirected to the WalMart page.
- TopCashback will automatically keep track of your purchase.
- Within 10 days 5% of your total purchase price will be deposited to your TopCashback account.
- Once you reach a minimum of $10 in earned cash back, you can cash out for gift cards or directly to PayPal.
Keep in mind that although you get a $10 sign-up bonus, you can’t withdraw this amount until you’ve earned a minimum of $10 in earned cash back. Cash outs can be made to PayPal or for Amazon or American Express gift cards and take only a few days to process.

6. EarningStation
EarningStation is a free rewards site that pays you to complete tasks that you already do on a daily basis. Get paid to watch videos, shop online, play games, refer friends and take surveys. What I love about EarningStation is that you get a $10 bonus when you sign-up for 5 of their partner sites.
Each time you complete a task you’re given a certain amount of points. I typically find that taking surveys and watching videos give the highest rewards. All points earned can be exchanged for gift cards or deposits to PayPal.
They even have an excellent referral program. Each time you refer a friend you get 10% of all of their earnings. If your friends earn $10 within their first month of signing-up, you earn an additional $5.
7. iWriter
iWriter is a freelance writing platform. The amount of work tends to vary depending on the time of year, but there’s usually enough to go around for everyone. Again, absolutely no previous experience needed.
The relationship between the writer and the platform tends to be more informal with the majority of communications will be conducted via email. You’ll be given a manager who will communicate with you and provide insight to improve your writing.
Payments are carried out via PayPal on a weekly basis, but you have to initiate the withdrawal. Most payments take about 72 hours to appear in your PayPal account.
8. Fiverr
Fiverr is an online store that made its name by allowing people to offer their services for $5. You can earn more than this through extensions to your main service. For example, some people offer to write $500 words for $5, but will charge an extra $5 to have it delivered in one day.
Figure out what you can do for others and start offering your services. You don’t have to register with Fiverr as a freelance writer or a web developer. It can be as simple as providing voice narrations or writing honest reviews on a free product.
Over time, you can make Fiverr into a full-time job, and even expand into opening your own brand. Most payments are processed through PayPal and it can be as soon as one week to receive your money.
9. Amazon Mechanical Turk
Amazon Mechanical Turk is one of the most popular online platforms for workers. You’ll be working with Amazon on the tasks that can’t easily be handled by robots.
Common tasks you might be asked to complete when working for Amazon Mechanical Turk include placing items in the correct product categories. Other times you may be asked to edit product descriptions to ensure that they meet Amazon’s content standards.
Getting paid is easy. If you’ve been active on Amazon Mechanical Turk for more than ten days, you can withdraw your earnings whenever you like. The only limitation to this is that you can only complete one transfer request every calendar day.
10. Chegg
Chegg is an online homework and eLearning service for students of all levels. To get started, you need to demonstrate that you have at least completed the level of education you’re teaching at.
For example, if you’re helping high school students with their homework you need to have a high school diploma. Experienced tutors have the potential to earn $20 an hour.
You should keep in mind that you may also be writing out lesson plans and grading completed work. Previous experience isn’t necessary, but it will make this job a lot easier.
All payments are made every Thursday with the cut-off point for work for that payment cycle is Wednesday night. Any work not completed by then will be transferred to the following payment cycle.
11. Content Gather
Content Gather pays you to write comments on blogs and forums. This is a great place for freelance writers to pick up work, with gigs in a number of subject areas. You can cash out to PayPal once you reach a minimum balance of $5. Usually it only takes 48 hours before your application is approved.
12. Checkout 51
Yaarlo is very similar to the Ibotta app mentioned above. Get paid to scan your receipt to your smartphone.
The amount of cash back you earn is completely dependent on your total purchase price. The more you spend, the more cash you get back from Checkout 51.
While Checkout 51 doesn’t have as many available offers as their competitor Ibotta, usually I find a lot of great fruit and vegetable deals here that I wouldn’t have found otherwise. Furthermore, you can stack this app with Ibotta to increase your savings even more.
13. Easy Shift
Easy Shift is an ideal online gig for those who regularly shop in the real world. All the action takes place on the Easy Shift app. The tasks you’ll be asked to complete are simple and fun at the same time.
You might be asked to check the prices of products in-store and compare them with their online counterparts. Sometimes they’ll ask you to take a product photo or review online promotions.
The time it takes for you to get paid depends on how long it takes to authorize the completion of each task. After this has been completed, most payments are processed through PayPal within 48 hours.
14. Gigwalk
Gigwalk is an online platform that allows you to earn anywhere from just a few dollars to an entire paycheck. The jobs are mainly coming from primary retail brands who want a visible presence in the local community.
Pick up gigs via the app and then carry out the work. Gigwalk is typically very swift with their payments. However, if your boss doesn’t review your work, it can take 12 days for your work to be processed.
This is rare and you’ll nearly always receive payment via PayPal within a week. If you want to use other payment methods, the processing time may be a bit longer.
15. BeFrugal
BeFrugal is another shopping portal that pays you to shop online. Each time you click on one of their affiliate links to make a purchase at a retailer of your choosing, they earn a commission.
Instead of keeping this money for themselves, they give it back to you in the form of cash back. All new members receive a $10 bonus, but you need a minimum of $25 before you can cash out to PayPal or for gift cards.
16. City Twist
City Twist is a company that recruits people who can work from home and cold call as an appointment setter. You’re paid based on your results, such as $50 for setting up a meeting or completing simple office tasks.
If you have a persuasive voice and an affinity for this type of work, you can make a lot of money in a short space of time. The company has extremely good reviews. You won’t be entitled to employee benefits when working with City Twist, but you’ll be paid weekly and handsomely.
17. Virtual Office VA
A virtual assistant is someone who performs basic tasks on behalf of clients. This can include researching an obscure topic or sending out emails to your client’s contacts.
Virtual Office VA hires virtual assistants to help out with this. The work is relatively simple and you dictate your schedule.
The pay depends entirely on the hours you work, your level of experience, and the clients you pick up. This is a performance-based gig that typically pays around $9 per hour.
18. Language Line
If you know a second or third language, you can pick up work as a telephone interpreter with Language Line. They offer conventional full-time positions and the chance to work part-time from home.
You need to be able to convert limited English into the fluent target language while maintaining a neutral position at all times. The work always takes place as part of a three-way telephone conversation.
You speak to the client – who will have limited English skills – and then you will convert that into the target language. You’re essentially transcribing the conversation between international Language Line customers and their clients.
Payments are generally made weekly for workers in the US. Workers from outside the US may have to wait longer to receive their payments. The amount you’re paid depends entirely on the demand for the language and how much work you’ll be expected to carry out.
19. Upwork
Upwork is an online marketplace where anyone with a particular skill set can market themselves. The majority of freelancers working on Upwork are offering traditional skills like writing, web design, and software development.
Yet you can also offer more simple skills such as a data entry specialist or a transcriptionist. Upwork is one of the most popular places to work online, and many people have made a full-time income out of their efforts.
Like with most similar marketplaces, working on Upwork will require you to connect your PayPal or bank account account to the service. Payments are usually made within 24 hours upon request.
20. Needle
Needle is one of the newest companies to enter the crowded customer support industry. They have quickly combined a base of clients that include Norton and Skull Candy and hire Needle to meet their customer support needs.
You’ll be asked to provide live chat support for these services, and by no means do you need to be an expert. You just need to know the basics of how their websites work.
Prominent workers for the website claim they’re paid about $10 an hour. There’s also the opportunity to earn incentive points. These incentive points can be used to buy gadgets like a new iPad. These are provided in addition to your regular pay.
21. VOIQ
VOIQ is a cold calling service where agents call customers on behalf of major brands in an attempt to reach out to them. Once you’ve sent VOIQ your demo recording, you can decide how often you want to work and for how long.
Payments are processed at a specific time every Friday and take about 72 hours to show up in your PayPal account. This online gig is ideal for people who have a friendly and professional tone.
22. Vocalabs (no longer accepting)
Companies will pay for your opinions because they want to know what people like. The majority of organizations will get opinions via sending out surveys. Vocalabs is asking for work-at-home survey administrators to help out.
The work is done over the phone and you’ll be asked to ask previous customers of Vocalabs clients what they thought of the experience. It’s much better than cold calling because at no point are you trying to sell something.
The majority of people you call will only be too happy to sound off on the companies they’ve dealt with in the past. Every call pays $2.50 each and they typically take about five minutes to complete. All payments are processed on a weekly basis via PayPal.
23. Quick Tate
Quick Tate is a transcription service that regularly has huge amounts of work available. There are transcription jobs for speakers of multiple languages and skilled professionals.
The pay is relatively low at just 0.0025 cents per word, but the work is simple and if you work quickly this can quickly add up to a respectable income.
Deciding to transcribe for Quick Tate is the perfect way to break into the transcription industry because they require no previous experience to get started.
The only downside is they demand a background check for $15, which you’re under obligation to pay for out of your own pocket. Payments are delivered via PayPal. You’ll get paid every Monday, unless Monday is a holiday in which case this is moved to Tuesday.
24. Rev
Work-at-home workers who want to sign up for Rev will have a choice between either being a transcriptionist and a translator. You’ll always get more work as a translator if you know an obscure language, but there’s always an abundance of work for both professions.
Getting paid with Rev is easier than the majority of services on this list since all payments are made automatically via PayPal.
25. Cambly
Cambly is an online service that provides teachers for international students seeking to learn English. When signing-up for Cambly, you can be one of those teachers, even if you don’t have any previous experience.
The key goal for teachers is to simply communicate with non-native speakers and expose them to the language. Standard pay is set around $10 per hour.
For people working part-time or on the side this is a pretty good income. Payments are made every Monday directly to your PayPal account with no minimum payment required.
26. BoostCTR
BoostCTR is a site that pays people to write ads. You can earn a decent side income if you have the ability to understand what influences people to buy.
With this program, there are two different ways to earn money. First of all, you can easily complete guaranteed gigs, which pay about $4 for your ads.
The better paying gigs are contests in which you submit your chosen tagline. If chosen, you can earn up to $45. All payments are made in US dollars through PayPal every week.
27. London Brokers
London Brokers is a freelance writing platform. The majority of work pays a standard one cent per word, but occasionally higher paying gigs do come up.
You also have the opportunity to win clients exclusive to you for those that have proven to write well. The interface is simple to use and you don’t need any previous experience to get started.
All payments are made through either PayPal or Payoneer. You can earn additional bonuses if you finish a deadline early.
28. Textbroker
Textbroker is one of the most well-known platforms for freelance writers due to their high rates. Experienced writers on the platform can soon find themselves completing work for $0.05/word.
It’s not uncommon to earn up to $100 a day or more, and many freelance writers use this platform to earn a full-time living. Payments are processed every Friday and are only sent to a registered PayPal account.

29. The Content Authority
The Content Authority is a content marketing service that carries out content writing work on behalf of its clients. The amount you earn depends on the internal ranking system of both the writer and the article.
For example, a tier 3 article will always pay more than a tier 2 article. You can increase in tiers by consistently improving your writing. Once you reach a minimum of $25 you can request a payout directly to your PayPal account.
30. UserFeel
The UserFeel service employs freelance testers to check out websites and ensure that they’re working as expected. You’ll be expected to go through your chosen target website as if you were a customer.
Each test will take about twenty minutes to complete and will pay you $10. This is a great way to earn some extra income every month, and all payments are made via PayPal once per week.
31. Tutor
Tutor is one of the best online tutoring websites out there due to their high rates. It’s relatively easy to reach a pay level of $16 per hour, but you do need some experience.
Extensive background checks are carried out to ensure that only qualified tutors are employed. Payments are made weekly via PayPal.
32. Call Center QA
Call Center QA is a mystery shopping program that allows you to work from home over the phone. Your job is to test out their customer service lines and provide feedback based on your experience.
Earn up to $10 for each successful call made. These results will be submitted and approved before you can request a withdrawal. Payments are always issued via PayPal every seven days.
33. Ver-a-Fast
Despite the fact Ver-a-Fast has an extremely simplistic website, the platform is a great work-at-home opportunity. Ver-a-Fast mainly works on behalf of newspaper customers.

35. Transcribe Me
Transcribe Me is a great website for those without any previous transcription experience but looking to get some.
While the pay isn’t as great as other transcription websites, it’s great for passing that barrier to entry.
You only need a minimum of $1 to cash out to PayPal.
