Have to say I don’t think this article delivers on the “why you shouldn’t follow Dave Ramsey” part of the title and there may be a little piggybacking off of his name going on here… If you can provide anyone who stuck to his plan and it didn’t work for them? I highly doubt it and while it is indeed by no means the only way and your alternative options are sound enough I don’t think you can criticise his plan in any way at all

In reply to Anna. @Anna That's great that Dave Ramsey's methods work for you, but not everyone is in same situation financially or mentally. Hard and fast rules like that are good for radio shows and ratings but don't always apply strictly in the real world. Ramsey himself has essentially admitted that the method he preaches isn’t mathematically correct and is aimed at people who are bad with money and struggle with the psychological aspect of saving and investing. One method isn't going to work for everyone and no one personal has all the answers.

I couldn’t disagree with this article any more. I’m using his plan and it works 100% every time. You have mischaracterized so much. I’ve heard criticism of him but it’s rare anyone can argue with his baby steps. Anyone who is considering him should listen to what he actually says and not what someone else says he says. Your method will prolong the pain of debt and continue the bad habits that got people in it. No one is following the Diana Star method with any success I can guarantee it. My guess is you have debt.
