Want to Make Extra Money Now?

If you’re looking to earn a few extra dollars here and there, taking online surveys can be a great way to do so. MySoapbox is one of the more popular survey sites, giving you gift cards in exchange for your honest thoughts and opinions.

Yet with so many survey sites out there, sometimes it’s difficult to determine whether they’re a scam or not. That’s why I’m going to give you a full review of MySoapBox, telling you exactly how much you can make and how much time it takes.

This review should help determine whether this survey site is right for you. You also get a $2 bonus just for registering as a new user. Keep reading below to find a list of other recommended survey sites with their estimated payout rates.

What Is MySoapBox?

While MySoapBox isn’t a very well-known online survey site, it’s quickly growing in popularity. This is mostly due to their excellent payout rate coupled with short surveys. Each time you complete an online survey, you’re awarded with a specific amount of points. The longer the survey, the more points you earn.

These points can be exchanged for gift cards to popular retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy or Walmart. You need to have a minimum balance of $25 the first time you cash out, but after that it’s only a $1 minimum.

In order to make things simpler, I put together a quick list of the pros and cons of MySoapBox:

Pros
  • Payout rate for surveys is much higher than other online survey sites
  • Registration is free – you should never have to pay for a survey site
  • $2 sign-up bonus upon registration
  • only $1 minimum cash out after the first time
  • Surveys tend to be interesting
  • Feedback you provide will go toward helping companies improve their products and services
  • Prizes are typically awarded within 2 days
Cons
  • First time you cash out you need a minimum of $25 or 25,000 points
  • After your initial survey, the second survey can take 1-2 days to appear
  • Only available to users of the US and Canada
  • Surveys you receive are based on how you answer your profile questions
  • Not many surveys available
  • No estimate given of how long surveys are expected to take, although they’re usually pretty short
  • You may be ineligible for certain surveys, but they will usually tell you within the first few questions
  • It can take weeks for them to credit your account, but I’ve never not received my points

What Are The Surveys Like With MySoapBox?

MySoapBox was initially created to help give consumers a voice. When you become a member, the feedback you provide goes toward helping companies improve their products and services, which is why most of the questions are catered around a specific brand or product.

The first survey will ask you more personal questions, and the answers will determine which surveys you’re eligible for in the future. For example, you’ll be asked to state whether you’re married, how many people live in your household or how much money you make.

When you first sign-up, there will only be one survey available, and it may take a while for a second survey to appear. We suggest using their email notification option so you can get reminders of when new surveys are available.

How Much Can I Make With MySoapBox?

The more online surveys you take with MySoapBox, the more you will earn. However, the only downside to this is that there aren’t that many surveys available on their site. This is why we suggest taking as many surveys as possible since MySoapBox tends to give more surveys to those who frequently complete them.

1,000 points is equal to $1 USD, and you can expect each survey to pay on anywhere from 500 – 5,000 points ($.50 cents to $5). I typically find that on average, most surveys reward about 2,000 points and take anywhere from 10 – 20 minutes.

This means that you can earn anywhere from about $6 – $12 per hour, much higher than most survey sites. Keep in mind that this is only an estimate based on personal experience and that your hourly rate may differ.

If at any time you’re taking a survey and they find out you don’t qualify, you will still receive 10 points. Unlike a lot of other survey sites, they will tell you usually within the first few questions. This way you don’t waste your time getting halfway through the survey that you’re ineligible.

Keep in mind that it can take weeks for them to reward you with your earned points from a survey, yet rewards are usually sent to your inbox within a couple of days.

How Do I Get Started With MySoapBox?

Getting started with MySoapBox is incredibly simple. In order to make sure you don’t miss any details, we’re going to walk you through the process step-by-step.

1. Register.

You can register for a free MySoapBox account by clicking this link here. Sign-up is free and only requires a few pieces on information such as your name and email. Don’t forget to confirm your email (which can take a few minutes to arrive). You even get a $2 bonus as a new member. You can also use your Facebook to register.

2. Fill out your profile.

Once you get an account setup, one of the first things you’ll be asked to do is fill out your profile information. This is to give MySoapBox a better idea of what surveys you’re eligible for. This only takes a few minutes and you’ll be rewarded with 750 points upon completion.

3. Take surveys.

It may take a while for your first survey to appear after completing your profile information. This is why we suggest setting up notifications so that you’ll know when to check back in. On average, we’ve found that surveys take about 10 – 20 minutes to complete with a reward of 2,000 points. Unfortunately, they don’t have that many surveys available.

4. Cash out.

The first time you cash out, you’ll need a minimum balance of $25 in your account. After that, only a $1 minimum is required. Points can be exchanged for gift cards to popular retailers such as Amazon, Starbucks, Best Buy and multiple restaurants.

5. Refer your friends.

Just because you don’t have any more surveys available doesn’t mean you have to stop there. Each time you refer a friend that uses your referral link, you get a bonus of 1,000 points. A great way to spread the word is either through Facebook or Twitter.

What Are Some Other Great Online Survey Sites?

We’ve already mentioned a couple of times that MySoapBox doesn’t have that many surveys available, but this doesn’t mean you can’t continue to earn cash. We’ve put together a short list of other great survey sites that are well worth your time and effort.

1. PointClub

PointClub is by far one of my favorite online survey sites due to their simplicity and high payout rate. You can easily make up to $15 per hour. Not only that, but as a new member you get a $5 bonus.

In order to receive the maximum amount of earnings with PointClub, you need to log-in on a daily basis. For every 5 days you log-in consecutively, your earnings increase by 10% all the way up until you reach 100%. However, miss a day and this goes back down to zero.

Follow them on social media for free promo codes that will earn you free points. Not only that, but typically there’s at least a few surveys available each day so you can continue to earn.

2. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is more well-known for being a task site, and they’re one of the most famous on the web. Earn points called Swagbucks that can be converted into gift cards or direct deposits to PayPal.

You can earn cash watching videos, completing free-trial offers, filling out polls and surveys, shopping online, clipping coupons and more. Whatever it may be, you’re most unlikely going to run out of things to do that will earn you cash.

Watching videos with Swagbucks is one of the easiest ways to earn cash, but if you’re looking to make money taking surveys, expect to earn around $5 – $10 per hour. While the amount isn’t as high as PointClub or MySoapBox, it’s definitely worth adding to your list.

3. Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is another great online survey site. You have the potential to earn up to $18 per hour, but it’s rare that you’ll earn up to this amount due to the limited amount of high-paying surveys. Instead, expect to earn around $10 – $15 per hour – still a pretty decent rate.

You do need a minimum balance of $10 to cash out, and many users have complained about this since sometimes it may take a while to get there. However, I’ve always received my reward and they always pay on time.

Right now they are only available in the United States, Australia and Canada, but they have plans to move to the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Keep in mind that the more surveys you take, the more they’ll send you. Survey Junkie really likes to see avid survey takers.

4.

MySurvey isn’t a very high-paying survey site compared to the rest with a cap of about $8 per hour. However, it’s still one of my favorite survey sites since they always tell you how long each survey is expected to take and how much it will pay.

Not only that, but they won’t tell you halfway through a survey that you’re ineligible. This is done rather quickly, usually within the first couple of questions. They pay out in gift cards and PayPal deposits.

Another great thing about MySurvey is that they have a daily poll that literally only takes a few seconds complete. As a reward, you get 5 free entries to a sweepstakes of your choosing.

5. Ipsos i-Say

Ipsos i-Say isn’t my favorite survey site out there, but I can’t ignore it due to their decent payout rate at $8 – $9 per hour. I don’t prefer this site mostly because their surveys aren’t as interesting and sometimes it’s difficult to maintain focus.

However, I have to admit that they usually have a decent amount of surveys available. This is great for those who are really into taking online surveys and want to increase their cash flow. Not only that, but Ipsos often overestimates the time needed to complete a survey, so you could probably earn a bit more.

The one thing I recommend is to be as honest as possible. Ipsos is a bit more strict, and if they find out that your answers are inconsistent with one another, you risk your account being suspended.

Is MySoapBox Worth It?

We only recommend MySoapBox as an additional survey site that you add to your list, but don’t expect it to come close to paying the bills. While you can earn at a rate of $10 per hour and sometimes even higher, there just aren’t that many surveys available.

What we really like is that you can choose the option of being sent email or text notifications for when new surveys are available. This means you never have to log-in only to find out that you can’t earn any cash.

MySoapBox is great if you just have a few minutes to kill on your phone or happen to have some downtime at work. Unfortunately, they don’t give you an estimate of how long they will take.

In most cases, expect each survey to take around 10 – 20 minutes with a payout of $2. We’ve found fast survey takers to take off a few minutes, completing a survey in about 8 minutes.

In short, if you’re looking to earn the highest amount possible per hour, MySoapBox is great. It’s just that you won’t be earning a lot because there isn’t much opportunity. Not only that, but points can also take a couple of weeks to appear in your account.

Final Thoughts

MySoapBox is a great survey site to add to your list due to their high payout rate. The most unfortunate thing is that there just aren’t that many surveys available.

If you’re a new user, you automatically get a $2 sign-up bonus, but your first time cashing out requires a minimum balance of $25. I have never found MySoapBox to be a scam, as they’ve always paid me my points and my rewards, even if it does take a while.

I’ve personally found that taking surveys while waiting for an appointment or having a few extra minutes before work ends is the best way to go. Experiment with multiple sites and see which ones are best for you. Maybe you want an online survey site with a great mobile interface, or one with really short surveys.

If you’ve ever used MySoapBox, we’d love to hear about your opinions in the comments below – especially about how much you’ve earned. Otherwise, feel free to ask questions. Thanks for reading and happy frugaling!
