Liveops is a virtual call center agency that was founded in 2002. They currently employ the largest number of work-at-home call center employees. Over 20,000 customer service agents throughout the United States work for Liveops.
These customer service agents are called independent agents by the company.
Liveops has worked with tons of well-known brands and Fortune 500 companies. Some examples include Turbotax, AAA, Square, and Uber. Liveops has been featured and reviewed via news outlets such as New York Times, Inc, Marketwired, and MarTech Advisor.
As you can see, this company has a very strong and impressive history. That’s one big reason that they’re job openings are so popular.
The customer service agent position has several different branches, and they’re all work-from-home opportunities. I’ll go over each opportunity in this Liveops review.
What Do Liveops Independent Agents Do?
Liveops independent agents all work as call center customer service agents. In addition to general customer service, other job openings are frequently available. These openings include:
- Inbound sales
- Insurance claims
- Insurance sales
- Food order taking
- Roadside support
- Payroll support
- Patient support
If you work for Liveops, you are a customer service agent for the companies that Liveops works with. For example, you may provide roadside support for AAA members.
You may offer patient support for health care centers. The exact details of your job will depend on which role you land and which company the role is for.
Every position offers independent agents a six-month contract. After six months pass, your contract may be renewed or terminated. Additionally, some jobs are seasonal and won’t be available year-round.
What Are The Liveops Qualifications?
Before you apply, you’ll want to make sure you meet the Liveops qualifications. Their criteria are pretty standard for hourly work at home positions. They list these general qualifications on their website:
- You must be 18 years or older.
- Must be a United States resident.
- Provide verifiable information about your location/residence.
- Pass a background check via Checkr. You will be disqualified if you have:
- Two or more civil judgments against you (not including divorce).
- Any guilty or no contest felony records.
- Three misdemeanors related to DUI or hit and run.
- Five misdemeanors of any kind.
- Pass a credit check via Checkr. You will be disqualified if you have:
- Filed two or more bankruptcies.
- Past due debts or collections accounts totaling $10,000 or more.
Liveops states that the background check and credit report results are returned within 5 to 10 days. In some cases, you may have to provide specific proof of your identity.
Examples include a government-issued ID card or a utility bill that lists your current address.
The specific qualifications for each job opening may vary. For example, you may need experience with data entry for a certain customer service position. You can see details about additional qualifications when you browse job listings.

Liveops Equipment Requirements
If you meet the Liveops qualifications, you’ll also need to meet their equipment requirements. Fortunately, the equipment is pretty basic and you may already have it.
If not, it can be purchased for fairly cheap. You can also write off the equipment on your taxes, which is a nice work-from-home perk. You’ll need:
- A corded telephone. You don’t need anything special. The phone just needs to plug into a wall phone jack, and the phone needs an outlet for a corded headset. A basic landline phone is fine.
- A corded headset compatible with your headphone. Your corded headset must plug into your phone.
- Alternatively, you can use a corded headset phone for convenience. This option is pretty inexpensive, too.
- A working landline dedicated for taking Liveops calls. Service can be through your local phone company or a digital telephone service like AT&T, Comcast, or Time Warner.
- A computer with a wired Internet connection.
- An eligible Windows operating system. Windows Vista Professional Edition, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.
- Internet Explorer 11 or the latest version of Firefox.
- A computer with a 1GHz Intel Pentium P4 Processor or better.
- A computer with 1GB of RAM or higher.
- A quiet place to work online and take phone calls. Pick an area of your home without any background noise, or consider setting up a home office.
A USB headset and printer are listed as optional tools, so use them if you have them. Most Windows computers meet these requirements, so you’ll just need to meet the rest.

How To Apply For Liveops
Applying for Liveops is a straightforward process. The exact details of each application step depend on current job openings. I’ll give a general outline of what you need to do below:
- Thoroughly read the Before You Apply page. This is essentially an FAQ page. You want to be 100% sure you’re qualified before applying.
- Go to the Careers page and click the view all open positions link. This will show you all of the current work-at-home positions available.
- Alternatively, you can use the search function on the Careers page. I didn’t have much luck using common keywords. I suggest following the step above to get the best results.
- Click on the title of the position you’d like to apply for. For example, the first option is currently Work At Home – Payroll Support Services.
- Read the entire job description. There are multiple sections – Overview, Responsibilities, Earning Potential, Flexible Hours, and more. These are different for every position. The basic qualifications are the same, but the pay and the responsibilities vary with each position.
- Click Apply to create an account and begin the application. You’ll start by entering your e-mail to create an account. From there, you can fill out the full application for your chosen position.
Step Five is definitely the most important step. Each position has very unique aspects.
You want to pick one that’s right for you. For example, some positions may require you to make commission based sales. Others may only have certain hours available for you to work.
If you don’t want to apply for a specific position, you don’t have to. You can complete a process for general consideration.
You’ll create an account, list your interests, upload your resume, and fill out your profile. This allows Liveops to contact you if they think you’re a good fit for one of their positions.
How Much Does Liveops Pay?
According to the Before You Apply page, Liveops pays $0.25 per minute of talk time. Current job openings pay $0.25, $0.28, and $0.32 per minute.
Some Liveops clients pay commission-based bonuses, too. I did some research and found a lot of information about hourly wages.
- Based on the pay rate of $0.25 per minute of talk time, Liveops agents earn at least $15 per hour of talk time.
- Based on the pay rate of $0.32 per minute of talk time, Liveops agents can earn $19.20 per hour of talk time in certain roles.
- Indeed.com reports that Liveops basic customer service positions pay an average wage of $11.55 to $14.51 per hour.
- Indeed.com also reports that specialized positions such as insurance agents earn an average of $22.86 per hour.
- Glassdoor.com lists over 220 hourly wages reported by customer service agents. These averages range from $8.75 to $15.09 per hour.
- The majority of Glassdoor.com wage reports average between $12.68 to $14.38 per hour.
- Many independent reviews, blog posts, and forum comments from 2017 list an hourly wage between $10.50 to $15.00 per hour.
Keep in mind that you’ll be paid per minute of talk time. That means if you’re on the phone for 40 minutes during an hour, you’re paid for those 40 minutes. That’s why the hourly wages listed above vary a bit.
Based on these numbers, I think it’s fair to say that a starting rate of $10.50 to $15 per hour seems accurate. Specialized positions like insurance sales and payroll support tend to pay more. You can find out which positions pay more by reading the job descriptions.
Your total pay will definitely depend on how often you work. Let’s say you work part-time 25 hours per week, and you average $12.00 per hour. That equals $312.50 per week – definitely not bad for a work-at-home opportunity!
When Does Liveops Pay?
Liveops pays twice per month. Each payment is for the previous two weeks you’ve worked. You are responsible for submitting an invoice for the hours you’ve worked. Make sure to keep a detailed log of your hours to ensure that your payments are accurate.
Liveops Pros and Cons
Liveops employs several thousand independent agents, so there are plenty of Liveops employee reviews online. These reviews were very helpful for making a Liveops pros and cons list.
I’ve highlighted the most common positives and negatives listed by independent agents.
Pros
- You get very flexible hours.
- You can earn bonuses.
- You get to set your own schedule.
- You can cancel a shift up to 30 minutes before your shift.
- You can always talk to a supervisor through live chat if you need help.
- You can exchange hours/shifts with another agent if necessary.
- Upper management receives positive feedback.
- You work in a “be your own boss” type of role.
- You get to work from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Cons
- You have to pay a one-time $65 fee for the credit and background check.
- You aren’t offered benefits that non-virtual jobs may offer.
- There are slow periods between phone calls sometimes.
- The training you have to complete is unpaid.
- You’re required to pay self-employment taxes.
- Your pay may be inconsistent due to slow periods.
- Hours are picked up quickly by other agents.
These pros and cons are very common for work at home positions. There’s some competition to get hours, but the flexibility and earnings make it worthwhile
Liveops offers a promising hourly wage compared to many other work online jobs. It seems to have great potential for a part-time position.
