MobileXpression isn’t just an innovative survey panel that uses the internet to take market research to the next level. It also focuses its surveys on improving the internet!
That’s why this panel lets you take surveys on your mobile device. Most surveys will have you doing things like viewing video advertisements, visiting specific websites, etc., from your mobile device.
Then you’ll report your feedback via a survey. If something looks messy on your device’s screen, you might note that in your survey.
The purpose of this panel’s surveys is to improve the internet, especially on mobile devices. As of January 2018, over 3.7 billion people in the world used mobile internet.
Most business owners and advertisers know how important it is for their websites to be mobile-friendly. That’s why those in the market research industry partner with MobileXpression to gain valuable insight into the mobile internet and how people use it.
Who Can Join MobileXpression?
MobileXpression accepts members from around the world to participate in its surveys. The website doesn’t specify whether all countries are accepted, so your eligibility likely depends on your country’s regulations involving survey panels.
You must be at least 18 years old to join and participate. You also must have an up-to-date mobile device that can operate the iOS or Android app properly. Although you can take some surveys on the website, most opportunities will be for your mobile device.
That means that you’ll also need internet access on your mobile device. Using the app in Wi-Fi areas is best. Otherwise, you’ll eat into your mobile data plan quickly because they often require you to watch videos or load images, which can be data-heavy.
How Does MobileXpression Work?
MobileXpression works a little differently than web-based survey panels because you’ll be mostly using your mobile device to take surveys. This can take a little getting used to if you haven’t taken mobile surveys before. Your screen size and data speed can affect your mobile experience.
The survey part will be much like other survey panels though. MobileXpression is a survey site, not a rewards site, so there won’t be several ways for you to earn cash.
You’ll take surveys when they become available. You might get some occasional email notices when there’s a web survey available. Most surveys will come from the app, though, which will send notifications to your mobile device when another survey becomes available.
There is an important difference between MobileXpression and other survey sites to know. This app isn’t just for surveys. It also runs in the background of your mobile device collecting data from your internet usage.
The information it collects is for market research purposes, to inform the mobile internet industry of patterns and activities that are helpful to know about the way people use the mobile web.
If you’re concerned about privacy from this app constantly running on your device, hang in there. I’ll get into that a bit later in this review.
What Ways Can I Earn with MobileXpression?
There are a few ways to earn money and prizes with MobileXpression:
- Data collection. The data collection part of this panel is its main way to earn money. By keeping the app installed on your mobile device and letting it collect information about your internet usage, you can earn cash from doing nothing.
- Web and mobile surveys. Take the occasional web or mobile survey that comes your way to earn some money from MobileXpression. Most people don’t get many invites, but it’s still a good way to get some extra cash.
- Weekly sweepstakes. Each week, MobileXpression members will be entered into a drawing for various prizes. Some previous prizes have included iPads, digital cameras, and kitchen items. You must have the app installed and working properly to be eligible for weekly sweepstakes.

MobileXpression has a few key features that make it stand apart from some other market research companies:
Convenient Mobile App
One of the most convenient things about MobileXpression is its mobile app. Not many survey sites have an app that lets you take surveys on-the-go and even get paid just for letting it run on your device.
You don’t necessarily need a new mobile device to run the app, but you will need a somewhat updated device. A very old iPhone, for example, will likely not run the app.
MobileXpression collects internet usage data from your device with the app, so it wants to keep its information up-to-date by only collecting data from newer devices.
The Chance to Win Prizes
In addition to collecting cash from surveys and running the app on your mobile device, you’ll also have the chance to win the weekly sweepstakes. MobileXpression offers a variety of prizes every week, from large cash prizes to iPads and more.
Trees for the Future Donation
If you’re looking for a market research company that does some good in the world, then MobileXpression is it. The company partners with Trees for the Future, a program that plants trees and other crops for families around the world to create a more sustainable future.
When a member participates in the panel by downloading the app, keeping it installed, and letting it run on a device for at least 90 days, MobileXpression donates a tree to the program.
If you keep the app on your device for that length of time, you’ll help the program indirectly give families around the globe a brighter future.

How Does MobileXpression Pay?
The way that MobileXpression’s payment works are a bit different than other survey panels and market research companies.
When you first join and allow the app to run for at least a week, you’ll be eligible for your $5 Amazon gift card if you live in the United States. Those from other countries will get different prizes. You’ll also gain an entry into cash sweepstakes when you join.
After your first week, you will get another sweepstakes entry for every week you keep the mobile app installed and running on your device. You’ll also get points added to your account each week.
When you take a survey, you may qualify for points or gift cards. MobileXpression will let you know what the reward is for completing the survey before you take it.
Depending on the activity, you can get rewarded with cash, prizes, or points from participating. When you get enough points, you can redeem them for a gift card.
How Much Money Can I Make with MobileXpression?
You aren’t going to necessarily earn a lot of money with MobileXpression. Most members just use the app as a passive way to rack up points for gift cards or potentially win a sweepstakes prize.
Your best chance to earn here is by keeping the app installed and continuously qualifying for the weekly sweepstakes entries. Some sweepstakes have huge cash prizes (there’s one worth $100,000!), whereas others will give you some great items, like digital cameras or Kindles.
Don’t expect to earn a lot from this company but remember that what you do earn is mostly passive instead of requiring active work.
What Do Members Say About MobileXpression?
MobileXpression has a lot of mixed reviews on consumer review sites and on app store reviews. Members seem to either love it or hate it, with not a lot of middle ground.
The reviews do tend to lean more toward negative feedback though. Here are a few of the most common trends from member reviews:
Payment Problems and No Payment Proofs
While a lot of survey panels and market research companies have payment proofs from members floating around online, this one doesn’t.
It’s clear that a lot of members don’t appreciate that they can’t find proofs of payment (and haven’t been paid themselves), and prospective members steer clear to avoid wasting their time.
This Reddit thread can give you a good idea of what people think about MobileXpression’s payments.
Although there are a few people saying that they’ve at least gotten their first payment, there are several others claiming that they never got paid at all, even after a few months of having the app installed.
I’ve also seen other reviews of people contacting customer service about a lack of payment and either not receiving a response at all or not receiving a helpful response.
Unexplained Account Locks
Take one look at this TrustPilot thread and you’ll see that MobileXpression isn’t well-liked among the crowd. One of the most common comments I saw here was that, after attempting to redeem their rewards, members would experience an unexplained account lock.
Many of them ended up with a generic message from MobileXpression saying that their account had been suspected of fraud and had to be shut down. Unfortunately, it seems to be a trend that this happens only when someone goes to cash out their payment.
Unhelpful Customer Service
Several members have also complained about MobileXpression’s customer service team, which seems to be lacking in the helpfulness department.
When members contact the customer service department for help with payment questions, especially, they tend to leave the conversation more confused than they were before.
Many who contact MobileXpression’s customer service haven’t gotten a response after several attempts, or they don’t receive a helpful answer to their question, especially when it comes to payment issues.
Should I Be Concerned About My Privacy?
Privacy is one of the biggest concerns people seem to have about MobileXpression. It makes sense since the app continues to run on your mobile device even when you aren’t using it and collects data from your device.
MobileXpression does have a detailed privacy policy, which is great. But there are some things in there that aren’t 100% clear, and other points that are even somewhat concerning.
One part of the privacy policy mentions that the app can collect data from just about anything you do online, including “both your normal web browsing and any activity that you undertake during secure sessions, such as filling a shopping basket, completing an application form or checking your online accounts.”
That means that, even when you’re entering your online banking password, MobileXpression can collect that information.
The policy does say that it makes “reasonable efforts” to filter out any identifying and secure information, like passwords, financial card numbers, and account information. Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee that it can filter out all your sensitive information.
Although the privacy policy can answer most of your questions, it won’t necessarily make you feel better about keeping yourself protected when using the app. MobileXpression attempts to encrypt any sensitive information, but again, the system isn’t foolproof.
Is MobileXpression Legit or a Scam?
I can’t say that MobileXpression is a scam, despite the fact that several people say they haven’t gotten paid. It’s possible that there are legitimate concerns that MobileXpression has regarding these accounts being fraudulent and, therefore, unable to receive rewards.
I have at least seen some members say that they’ve gotten their promised gift cards from the company, even if it took longer than expected. Since some people are getting paid, then it’s difficult to label MobileXpression a scam.
However, I wouldn’t personally rely on earning anything with MobileXpression. I’m not a fan of the privacy policy’s unclear answers to some important questions, and I also don’t like using apps that will continue to run on my phone.
More importantly, the fact that so many people have struggled to get paid and haven’t received clear answers as to why their accounts have been shut down before payment makes me wonder if I might be wasting my battery and data by keeping the app running.
How Do I Get Started With MobileXpression?
The setup with MobileXpression is a little bit different compared with other rewards apps, but we’re here to break it down for you in 5 easy steps.
1. Register
You can register for a new account by clicking this link here. Click on the “Join Now” button and enter information about the phone you wish to register with your MobileXpression account. You can check the model of your phone by going into settings or check the back of your phone for iPhone users. You’ll also be asked to complete your member profile by filling out some personal information.
2. Install the software
From there you’ll be sent a text message on how to install their software and verify your account. Take note that you need to install a VPN for MobileXpression to work, so you must be okay with that.
3. Follow all steps.
This one is very important. MobileXpression does a great job of outlining what to do step by step in order to get credited for having the software installed on your phone. Make sure you change your settings to allow the MobileXpression email account to check in with you by changing your Fetch New Data settings to every 15 minutes. 4. Confirm installation.
After you get the software setup, click on the webpage to verify that you’ve installed it. From there a rep will send you an email message confirming whether your phone is properly setup or not.
5. Earn rewards.
After your first couple of weeks, you can expect a new Amazon gift card in your inbox, all for doing absolutely nothing!
Alternative Survey and Reward Sites
I know of several survey panels and other reward sites that are a lot more reliable when it comes to payment than MobileXpression. If you’re not sure that joining this panel and downloading the app are your best options, then I suggest considering some other panels and reward sites with better reputations:
Final Thoughts
MobileXpressions isn’t a panel I’d do business with, but some people have had success. You can’t complain much when you’re earning money passively while running an app on your mobile device – unless that app is invading your privacy.
The privacy issue is one of the biggest things that’s holding me back from moving forward with this market research company. There’s just no guarantee that your information is safe in the company’s hands, which doesn’t make me want to stick around and find out.
Couple that with the fact that many people don’t get paid, and you have yourself some legitimate concerns.
